Q-Nodes
Q-Nodes are Qubic-enabled nodes (powerful servers, IRI nodes). These nodes offer their own unused computing power or storage capacity as a “Proof-of-Work” service in the Tangle. Qubic provides a great incentive for people to run these Q-Nodes. Let other participants in the network use their spare computing power or storage capacity to provide a useful service, and get paid for it with IOTA tokens. Q-Nodes can breathe new life into old, abandoned PCs, and they can provide a way for traditional cryptocurrency “miners” to monetize devices by performing useful computations rather than meaningless (and wasteful) cryptographic puzzles.
In the future, Qubic will leverage this globally untapped computing power to solve all kinds of computational problems. Qubic is optimized for IoT – low power consumption and low memory requirements – but that doesn’t preclude large-scale computation, especially computation that can be parallelized and distributed across a large number of processors.
